BARBIE, AN APACHE INDIAN IN TEXAS
HEIGHT 13”, WIDTH 8”, DEPTH 10”
This piece was entered into competition at the Barbie Convention in Grapevine Texas, June 2007. The Category is “Events in Texas History”. I created a plack showing the different tribes of Indians in Texas in past History with a turquoise bead highlighting the Apache. Barbie has been converted into an Apache female dressed in leather and embellished with seed beads of white, turquoise, gold and navy blue. Her head gear and ear rings match. I created the campfire with a votive candle holder covered in polymer clay made in the image of fire.
She has long black hair, braided at the crown with brown eyes. Her face is a partial repaint and I have hand tied her eye lashes.
